Heyo again, situation's a bit in flux but what I'm thinking right now is essentially... would it work to say Ruby was, through one endgame mechanic or another (there's an extremely powerful wish in play, for one), somehow sent home with her CRAU intact and lived out the time between her original canon point and new canon point/the near death experience?
The events I want to update her through took maybe... 3-5 days in total. And her in-game development honestly wouldn't be enough to meaningfully change anything that happened in that time. There's also in-universe precedents for being yanked into another dimension/universe and coming back without time being 1:1, via both some semi-canonical crossovers that match the tone of the main series and directly expand on mainline character arcs and the events of volume 9 itself. So her explaining away how she looked different and such wouldn't be too out there.
