"I think those are pretty normal fears to have, for people who have been through a lot," Mairi says calmly. "But the eye of the storm is always calmest. It's easiest to stay trapped in by the high winds and the harsh rain because escaping to actual safety means going through the hardest parts. It's most comfortable in survival mode because you have to go through a shitload of fight or flight to get to real peace, and that's not easy. But it's worth the journey."
