The entire time César had been leading Dabi around and patiently talking to him, he was so sure the man had been lying. So sure that there was no way, he had to have found things out some other way. That is until they finally find her and Dabi feels like his knees are going to give out from relief, or they would have had she not been so quick in wrapping her arms around him and lifting him up. The most she gets at first is a choked out sound that is close to her name, but he doesn't fight how she lifts him up.

It's not often he's getting picked up like this, even less often that he's being hugged or shown any form of affection. If it were anyone other than her, they'd be on fire right now. Instead Magne is treated to Dabi wrapping his own arms around her neck, face planted in her shoulder as he tried to fight back the urge to cry. He didn't want to get her nice clothes covered in blood.

When he does finally say something it's a muffled string of curses, feet dangling as he just resigns himself to letting her hug him as long as she wants. He won't admit it but it's nice, it's a gentle sort of affection that he's not used to any more. How long had it been since his own family had hugged him.

Okay so his father clinging to him when he was about to take out everyone with him definitely didn't count. Neither did his mother and siblings trying to freeze him out.
