The first ones are a group of biological weapons delivered in the form of viruses - don't ask me to explain how they work, I'm no scientist, but what one variant does is just... makes anyone infected get up after they die, and turns them into these mindless things that only want to infect anything else left alive. Usually by biting."
He grimaces a little, tugging at the collar of his shirt over one of the gnarled bite scars on his shoulder.
"The other ones don't get any prettier. I could keep going, but you probably get the picture. One of those viruses got released in a major city, a few years back, and the whole place went to hell within days. Hours, maybe. Got so bad the government decided it was better to wipe the whole place off the map than try to stage a rescue for the survivors."
This is said with no small amount of bitterness, to the point where it's clearly a personal sore point.
