Eddie has no opinion the proper way to speak with therapists versus with friends... therapy was never really an option for him.
"It was Myra's idea to get married. A lot of things were her idea, really -- where we should settle down, how we should spend our weekends, what friends would should have. She knew not to interfere with my chauffeur business, but that was about the only thing she didn't weigh in on. Or criticize." Eddie sighs. "I'm not an assertive person. It was much easier to just go along with what she wanted for most things. And if I ever asked for her reasoning, it always seemed solid... but sometimes, if I pushed back on something she was really set on doing... woof. Those arguments were something else."
Eddie pauses. He takes off his glasses, and starts polishing at the lenses with a handkerchief. Then...
"Like when she decided we should stop trying for a child. At the beginning she'd said she wanted kids, and then here she was... not even giving me a reason... I think that was the only time I really screamed back at her during an argument. Things really started to crumble after that."
