Oh. Right, first guess was right. Lev pauses to try and reassess the situation, then decides it's too cold and he's too tired to do quite so much thinking while standing in the middle of the street.

"No, uh, I think like, thou had not the wrong idea," he says to Leon, feeling sheepish in turn. "Ah. And nu, I meant, well. I think most others what are not me would say in the closet, and not overwintering."

He pauses again, and sighs, frustrated at himself.

"Listen, like, the weather's miserable, nu?" he says. "I feel I owe thee a real explanation, but like, I'd rather deliver one indoors."

And while they're walking to wherever said indoors will be, he can maybe figure out how to extract his foot from his mouth. Something about Leon's reaction is leading him to think that he really, really shouldn't have made any comments about being in the closet. At least the other doesn't seem hurt; merely unbalanced in a way that Lev finds regrettable. There are people he prefers not to start off on the wrong foot with, and it seems Leon may be one of those.

He spares no thought, yet, for the fact that his sense for who is and isn't a hothouse flower is intact despite no longer being on the same world, let along in the same country. Such things are private, midnight worries, not something to dwell on by day, when surrounded by others.
