Won't You Spare Me Over for Another Year?
In the sacred texts of Pumpkin Hollow's local religion, it is written that when it is your time to die, you will be greeted by the goddess of winter. She will invite you onto her black funeral carriage and take you into the afterlife, in her realm beyond the veil between the tangible and the spirit worlds. She will tell you stories of your loved ones, recount with you the history of your life, and ask you to tell her what you have learned. By the time the carriage reaches your destination, it is said that you will know exactly what sort of afterlife you have earned.However, for the last five years, death's carriage has arrived for no one in Pumpkin Hollow. The reason is unclear, but this strange phenomenon has both spared the people of Pumpkin Hollow from the island's curse and condemned them to it indefinitely. Whenever someone dies anywhere on Marrow Isle or in the dark ring of ocean surrounding it, they come back to life sometime later.
Should you die on Marrow Isle, you will become a ghost for at least 24 hours. During this time, you will be invisible, inaudible, and incorporeal to living residents and will struggle to communicate through normal means. You may be able to engage in rudimentary poltergeist activity such as moving small objects or seek out someone with a strong sixth sense in order to get your point across. If there are other ghosts around, you can also talk to them. After the 24 hour mark, you will return to your body at the following break of dawn.
Resurrection isn't without its problems. For one, your body will not be where you left it. You will return to life in a random place on the island and sometimes you will be missing personal items which may or may not resurface elsewhere. Additionally, you will have some kind of marking on your body that reflects the offending injury. How intense or subtle it is will vary.
Upon your death, please fill out the brief Death Certificate below! All that we need is your name, your cause of death, and your resurrection event. The last entry can be just about anything sufficiently inconvenient, such as waking up in a remote location, in an embarrassing or frightening situation, or without some of your gear. You can also say "Surprise me!" and a mod will create one for you. We have a few clever ideas up our sleeves occasionally!
