[The following letter is delivered to Elias's mailbox two days after his posts his notice to the bulletin board. By an amazing coincidence this also roughly how long it takes to convince Janine Kilbride to grant one of her enforcers a leave of absence for investigatory purposes. Shen Qingqiu's handwriting is clear and lovely, with just enough flourishes to be aesthetically pleasing without detracting from the readability.]

Dr. Coldwood,

Although we have not been introduced, I am nonetheless an admirer of your work to study and catalogue the creatures and would offer my assistance to your endeavors if you find my skills to your liking. They number thusly: first, I am a capable swordsman and spellcaster. I would be quite capable and pleased to assist you in the defense of yourself and your other assistants, should combat required.

Second, I am trained in the arts of painting and calligraphy, and thus capable of assisting with transcription of field notes and the crafting of educational illustrations. As a demonstration of these claims I can offer first the appearance of this letter, and secondly a sketch I've made of the little creature that lives in my garden, which I call Raffles. Finally, Agent Jean has promised to provide a positive reference regarding my combat skills, if you would care to contact them for more information.

I hope I have not been too forward in offering you this information. If you would like to discuss these matters further, I would be happy to arrange a meeting to argue my case more eloquently in person.

[ It takes a mere day for Shen Qingqiu's letter to receive another in response! Though his penmanship is a bit messier, it sweeps in what looks like a quickly-written cursive. ]

Hello, Shen Qingqiu!

It was a delight to receive your letter the other day - I thank you for both it and the exceptional illustration! If I may be as forward to say, I've found use for it in one of my newest updates to our catalogue, depicting these creatures of varied shapes and sizes. Every day I feel as though I see a new one, so different from the rest!

I would love an opportunity to meet with you in person to discuss, however. Consider this an offer for an interview! Your penmanship and artistic talents speak for themselves, and there's no shortage of both notes to be inscribed more neatly, and creatures to be documented through images. Between my own art and my limited photography, I simply haven't been able to keep up, and someone with such a skill to depict these things is something I was truly hoping to find in one of my assistants.

I am presently in a period of reorganization of my notes, and doing so is incredibly overdue. As such, any time is perfectly fine to come speak! Perhaps, should the days not keep you too terribly busy, would you care to visit within the next few coming days? Feel free to reach me by sending stone to make final negotiations, and we'll chat over tea. I can use the opportunity to show you what may be our shared workspace, as well!
