Why not get on board with the existing orgs, instead of trying to build your own thing yourself? Is it because you feel like you need to be in charge to be effective?

If you are going to mock him, sir, do not forget the coffee.]

Why choose? I think both are possible. And I know, for certain, that a group working independent of any major oversight can do far more than most.

My coffee is also the best you’ll ever have. I’ll stake money on that.

I am not a man who drinks good coffee. I drink breakroom sludge and the pot that's been on for hours and hours at the Moonlite All-Nite Diner. I've even gone for instant coffee in a pinch and not cared about the difference.

But my point is--and I'm being deliberate in making this discussion publicly visible--trying to create a group that isn't under the auspices of any faction can be the same as making a whole new faction. There exists in this town a divide which most people politely don't speak of. Trying to weave a bandaid from scratch over that divide is doomed to failure. An individual existing in abstention from the groups that exist knows what they're facing.

A plaster is for healing small wounds. Large ones require more force, fresh wounds gouged by needle and thread. What’s more, if you can’t shut the wound in time, it cannot heal and will remain forever open.

For the moment, I’m not looking to start anything formally. Not yet. I’m still employed by the Leeds family unless I’m dismissed, and in my spare time I am offering study, coffee, and additional crisis training in that order because I bloody well feel like it.

And I cannot, nor will I ever, be properly equipped to deal with the absolute sacrilege you forced me to read with both of my eyes in a public setting.

Is this when I mention sometimes using pancake syrup to sweeten coffee when there wasn't any sugar on the table in the diner?
