Character Claim
To claim a character, you'll post the form at the bottom of the post in a reply to the comment for that month. Please no toplevel character claims! This helps us stay organized.
How many characters can you claim? Each player may claim a maximum of eight characters at this time. We recommend you do them one at a time, taking time to find your footing with each one before adding the next, but we have no specific requirements as to when you can app in each character. You can also always test drive as many characters as you want.
What kinds of characters can you bring in? Our rule of thumb is that any character that makes reasonable narrative sense. Please note that the death or near-death experience required for the narrative does not necessarily have to be canon--- you can invent one specifically for RP purposes here! See our FAQ for more information or ask a mod if you're not sure, but most things should be fine Original characters welcomed and encouraged!
Is there an age minimum for characters? Yes and no. Due to the fact that Pumpkin Hollow is inherently a horror-centric game and is NSFW-friendly, we strongly recommend and prefer characters that are over the age of 18. However, we may take applications for characters who are minors on a case-by-case basis if we believe that they would be narratively well-suited to the setting. There is no specific minimum age, but age will be taken into consideration alongside other factors when we make these decisions. Feel free to ask a moderator about the suitability of a character younger than 18 before filling out an application.
Is there a cast cap? Not presently! However, we do want to keep our overall cast as diverse as possible, so if we need to, we may set a reasonable cap proportional to the size of our game down the road.
What about doubles of an existing player character? Doubles are not encouraged but would be accepted if each version is significantly unique from the other. For example, the protagonist a game with multiple branching paths might be wildly different between those paths!
Can I play more than one character from the same canon? Again, this isn't necessarily encouraged, as we'd much prefer castmates be able to interact freely. However, if you receive mod approval then yes, playing multiple characters from a canon is possible on a case-by-case basis. Approval will depend on various factors (e.g. characters from your original canon or that do not interact are easiest to approve). However, please note that you cannot acquire bonus AC for threads/interactions solely between your own characters.
Can my character bring along an attached NPC? This is may be allowed on a case-by-case basis if it makes narrative sense. For example, Sam from Death Stranding could ostensibly come here with Lou, the baby he carries with him. Please reach out to the mod team to discuss the specifics of your situation! We try to be flexible where we can.
All that said, we look forward to seeing your characters in Pumpkin Hollow. You may notice that some information is requested twice; this is because you're filling out both a claim post and a text area that we'll copy and paste into the taken list. See you soon!

QUESTIONS/FEEDBACK
March 2025 Character Claim
Agent Carolina / Catherine Church | Red vs. Blue
Player
Player Name: Connor/Dominik
Other Characters (if any): Ellen Ripley, Grant Curly, The Lobby Boy (tentatively considering dropping).
Character
Character Name: Agent Carolina / Catherine Church
Character Age: 29
Canon: Red vs. Blue
Canon Point: Carolina dies in her battle against the Director's army of Texas clones
• ────────── •
History: Link to her backstory page
Personality: Agent Carolina's earned confidence can, at times, border on arrogance. She's sharp-witted, focused, having trained her entire life to succeed and prepared to accept little else than perfection. Seldom has there been a time where she wasn't on-top, and in wake of losing this spot she fights viciously for it.
Beneath this armor of confidence is a deeply-seeded inferiority complex. Carolina's younger years are spent fretting that she may not live up to her father's expectations, and she resents and admires him in equal measure. These fears are later exacerbated when Agent Texas comes onto the scene, knocking Carolina down to no.2 on the leaderboard and inadvertently calling into question her value as a soldier. This (in addition to the death of her teammate Agent Connecticut) sends her on a reckless quest to re-establish her position and she becomes more cold and stand-offish to her teammates as a result.
However, her intense care for her crew is never overshadowed by this fact. She'll take every measure necessary to ensure their safety, even if it means pushing herself to the limit.
Her unwavering sense of duty, loyalty to her father and need to prove herself all contribute to her inevitable downfall. In not acknowledging these, in roping herself into a rivalry she cannot win, Agent Carolina dooms herself. Perhaps she does so knowingly, regardless of the consequences.
Initial Game Plan: Righting her wrongs with old friends, making new connections, learning to take a load off. Be kinder to yourself, Lina! Touch grass!
RP Interests: Interested in both positive and negative CR! Hit me with ideas, I'm down for anything
Preferred Job: She'll begin as a hunter, then transition to an enforcer after planned character development :3

• ────────── •
History: The Wizard arrives in the Kingdom of Hydeland - a kingdom besieged by armies of orcs, political intrigue, and a missing king, and forms an adventuring party to get involved with its troubles. Putting-down a myriad of monster attacks emerging from the nearby ancient sites impressed the Hydeland Adventurer's Guild and gained the company membership, allowing the Wizard and his companions to become significantly more involved in the growing sea of turmoil surrounding the kingdom. During an expedition to the Castle of the Dead the company are presented a scroll by a phantom knight, and would later discover that the phantasm was actually that of Hydeland's missing King.
Having been captured by nefarious forces, he took his own life to prevent himself from being used as a catalyst to revive the legendary Ancient Dragon. The news of the fallen king sets off a chain of events that reveals that the Prime Minister had been attempting a coup against the next heirs, Princess Vivian and her uncle Count Dean, and the company are instrumental in putting his machinations to an end. With the line of succession now clear the newly-appointed King Dean attempts to safeguard the kingdom's heavily-threatened borders and, to this end, travels to meet with envoys from the neighboring land of Morneon, but is betrayed on arrival and captured instead. Morneon sacrifices King Dean in an attempt to open the path to the Illusory Lands, hoping to be able to use the legendary Dragon's Crown to control the Ancient Dragon, but the magic needed for them to succeed had already been destroyed by the Wizard and his allies.
Despite Morneon's attempts to reach the Illusory Lands being stymied the sacrifice of Hydeland's King still means that the Ancient Dragon has now awoken and gathering power. In time it would have the ability to break free of its imprisonment and return to the world, where none would be able to stop it, so a preemptive strike was the only option. Gathering nine special talismans the Wizard and his allies travel to the Illusory Lands themselves and do battle with the Ancient Dragon. After a heated conflict the legendary beast is slain and the company of heroes are the victors. The threat of obliteration no longer hangs over Hydeland and its Knights are able to focus their efforts on the Orc threat, while Princess Vivian ascends the throne and inherits the now-ordinary Dragon's Crown.
The Goddess Althena, one of the three deities who sacrificed themselves to seal the Ancient Dragon away millennia ago, was restored thanks to the defeat of the Ancient Dragon and petitions the Wizard and his allies to help them in restoring her sisters as well. The company return to the Illusory Lands for two additional battles, fighting against the successively more powerful dragons responsible for stealing the Goddess's powers, and emerge victorious both times. With their success the restored goddesses declare the Wizard and his company as the "Gate Guardians" of the Illusory Land and proclaim that they will become mythic figures, their names recorded forever in history..
With the land of Hydeland now safe the Wizard returned home to use the reagents yielded by the Ancient Dragon's defeat to undo the state of undeath his sister had been trapped in. The last thing he saw before awakening in his new surroundings was his sister's face smiling up at him.
Personality: The Wizard served as the leader of the adventurer's company that saved Hydeland from the threat of the Ancient Dragon and possesses just the combination of logistical acumen and responsible leadership needed to keep such powerful personalities on-mission. He has a more cynical and dour personality than his age would suggest, but the same skepticism that can make his companions see him as a downer often renders him the voice of reason in any given situation. That same level of caution is not applied to his studies, though, as the Wizard is both an avid learner and reader. His appetite for mapping the unknown and growing his mastery of the arcane is fueled by his desire to protect his loved ones, and can override his better judgement as a result. Time and experience has tempered his wilder magical inclinations however, and the lessons learned in restoring his sister's health are not ones that he will ever forget.
Though he respects and values his companions there is a certain level of superiority in how the Wizard views his non-magical companions, and he disapproves of the idea of utilizing brute strength for something that could be solved far more elegantly through the magical arts. Despite his preference for fellow practitioners of magic he and the other spellcaster of the team had the greatest rivalry in the company. With both utilizing magic through wildly different methods there was no shortage of competition to prove their given methods superior, resulting in more than a little immaturity and ego throughout their questing. Much of this bickering would come to be driven by unspoken attraction between the two, however, and the eventual admission of these feelings resulted in an immediate and visible difference. Though neither magister ever admitted it to the rest of the company, and a veneer of haughtiness is eternally draped over their interactions, something deeper grew between the two by the time their quest came to its conclusion.
Wizard has little in the way of family, meaning he is largely free of connections, but he cares for his little sister dearly and has spent much of his life trying to find a cure to the illnesses she has been plagued with since childhood. His entire journey to Hydeland was to remedy the terrible side-effects one of his attempts to cure her had brought about and, though it had succeeded in taking away her pain, the state of deathlessness it had condemned her to will forever be one of his greatest points of shame. As the only family either has the two share an incredibly deep bond, with him quite literally moving mountains to ensure her well-being, but sadly having to be absent for extended periods as a result. His separation from her just as he was able to truly restore her to health will be a point of continuous unease and worry for him, though he will do his utmost to ensure it doesn't show.
Initial Game Plan: Death and resurrection are fairly common in his setting, so the idea that he's been whisked to another place as a result of a death or near dearth would catch him off-guard. The presence of a settlment and other people would make the adjustment easier, though, and so he would try to busy himself with being useful in order to avoid focusing on having been removed from his sister and all the people he cares for. Empty hands would make idle minds, so he would focus on getting a fairly well established base of operations on the island as in order to stave off the thoughts that too much quiet would bring. Meeting new people and exploring any new magical creations the new plants and creatures offered would certainly help distraction, though, and with any luck he'd end up with enough of a routine that he was actually settled-in well before he realized it.
RP Interests: Island exploration, delving unusual or dagnerous locations, experimenting with whatever new magics fellow magisters might have brought into the setting, and growing familiar with the myriad of new flora and fauna he's been presented with in Pumpkin Hollow.
Preferred Job: Arcanist/Magister - Creating and selling magic goods, removing curses, and serving as a general source of magical knowledge. Additionally, as a Guild adventurer in his prior life, the idea of being able to form something similar with other magic users in the setting would be very appealing.

• ────────── •
History: The Sorceress, along with the other members of the adventure's company (Wizard, Fighter, Dwarf, Elf, Amazon), arrive in Hydeland and get involved with battles against surging monster attacks from ancient sites across the land, and a political coup attempted by the Prime Minister against the next heirs, Princess Vivian and her Uncle Dean, following the disappearance of the king. The king killed himself to thwart a ritual by the malevolent Morneon religion to summon a powerful ancient dragon, sealed in the Illusionary Lands by the world's goddesses. Key to their plot is the Dragon's Crown, an artifact that was imbued with the power to control dragons. Following his ascension to the throne, Dean is sacrificed by Morneon just as the previous king was, though the adventuring company has already destroyed the existing magic to reach the Illusionary Lands. The company found nine talismans to enter the Illusionary Lands and slay the ancient dragon before it can break free and cause destruction to the kingdom and possibly the realm. Vivian was made queen and inherited the now-powerless Dragon's Crown.
The goddesses of the land, one of which was restored by the ancient dragon's defeat, then tasked the adventure's company with defeating two progressively stronger dragons which stole their power. Upon accomplishing these tasks, the restored goddesses declare the company as the "Gate Guardians" for the Illusionary Lands, their name recorded in their mythology.
After these events, the Sorceress briefly entertains the nobility as a fortune teller before returning to an adventuring life. While death isn't unfamiliar with her, waking up in Pumpkin Hollow was something of a surprise, as normally she simply wakes up in the town chapel.
Personality: The Sorceress was a member of the adventurer's company that defeated the Legendary Ancient Dragon, and her mixture of playful optimism and knowing maturity played a key part in lifting the shadow that hung over the Kingdom of Hydeland. Outwardly, she is a typical enchantress — coquettish, mysterious, and even a touch cruel at times — but those who get to know her find that a far more mature version of her sits beneath the surface. Past the veneer of frogs and skeletons sits something of a maternal side, leading her to act as a kind of a den mother to her allies. She ensures they are well-fed on their expeditions by cooking and even transmutating food for them, and whether through her own culinary talent or through more magical means, the dishes that she prepares are, without exception, delicious.
In spite of this caring side, Sorceress has had little in the way of companionship, having been single her whole life and struggling to see her affection returned even in the friendships she's maintained. Between her extreme natural talent with magic and her stunning looks, the majority of people she crosses paths wtih are either intimidated or only seek to interact with her in an effort to use of her for one reason or another. To this end, she's grown hardened to the idea of making meaningful connections and instead leans in to what she's grown used to people wanting from her. She knows what she looks like, so why wouldn't she use it to her advantage? Making use of her charms has allowed her to gain much in the way of luxuries, but the constant need to put on an act definitely weighs on her.
The adventuring company she joined in Hydeland would be the first time that she would work with people who didn't see her as exploitable, as it was made of equally exceptional individuals. While guarded and aloof initially, the opportunity to be seen simply as herself was something she'd never known and meant that true friendships were able to be formed. Not having people cowtow to her did certainly cause unexpected irritation though, particularly from the company's other magic useer. Being in a situation where her normally-unrivaled arcane abilities were not only in-line with the abilities of her peers but there was actually someone looking down on her as "unrefined" was something she'd never had. A bratty side would show itself through this rivalry, resulting in more than a little immaturity from both magician — but this competition would also light a fire in her to grow stronger in the mystic arts. The constant back-and-forth between the two would come to be driven by unspoken attraction and, when these feelings would finally be admitted, the difference in tension was immediate and visible. Although neither magician ever admitted it to the rest of the company, and their interactions remained largely colored by competition and ego, something deeper had blossomed between them by the time the adventure came to and end.
Sorceress had grown up with little and spent much of her life chasing the finer things, so the wealth and prestige that she enjoyed in the wake of their success was everything that she had been looking for, but her time with the adventurer's company had shown her that there was more to life than simple luxuries. As pretty as she looked in fine dresses, and as fun as it was to wow petty nobles with fortunes and parlor tricks, the thrill of adventure's had become a core part of who she was now. Cracking open dusty tombs and delving into ancient ruins brought a rush incomperable to anything else, and the bonds she'd formed in such places were ones she sorely missed.
Initial Game Plan: Likely finding out as much informationas she can, picking up odd jobs here and there, seeing who she can help out with her magical abilities. Arguing and being tsundere with Wizard.
RP Interests: Everything and anything! I love all sorts of CR, positive, negative. Give it all to me.
Preferred Job: Entertainer/Entrepreneur although she'd also enjoy being a Cook.
NSFW-friendly?: Yes. I mean, just look at her.

Character Name: Henry Blake
Character Age: 44 (but a 1970s-era man in his late 40s playing a 1950s-era man in his early 40s looking 44)
Canon: M*A*S*H
Canon Point: Episode 3.24, "Abyssinia, Henry"
CRAU (if any): n/a
• ────────── •
History: here
Personality: Oh Henry. How do we even begin to describe such a man. He's a commanding officer who is in no way, shape, or form cut out to be one. He's down-to-earth and easygoing, an all-around nice guy, but when it comes to dishing out orders and actually ensuring that said orders are followed, he's lacking. He's easily manipulated because he doesn't want to be the bad guy. He's willing to look the other way if people (Drs. Hawkeye Pierce and Trapper John McIntyre for isntance) want to engage in less-than-military-approved behavior because, again, he doesn't want to be the bad guy. His lax take on command earn him little respect among the more zealously military-oriented members of the unit, Majors Margaret Houlihan and Frank Burns, both of whom would love nothing more than to see Henry gone so Frank could command in his place. The pair go over his head countless times (so often he's got athlete's scalp! henry says) and have no qualms about insulting Henry but he generally shrugs off whatever they do. Through the course of his three seasons on the show we do see a slight improvement on how he handles situations requiring stern leadership but not by much. It's more like he's tired of putting up with everyone else's crap and therefore takes a few steps closer to the proverbial plate, but doesn't quite reach it.
Henry really is just one of the boys. He's happier playing poker and golf than ordering people around, and he enjoys a good drink and cigar. He's also pretty funny, although it's not always intentional. Like, he jokes around a fair amount but he's also known to say some pretty silly offhand remarks that seem to be serious. During one conversation with Radar about time zones, Henry laments the fact that everyone can't run on the same time, to which Radar explains that it's because the world is round and spinning so people have to go by different times. Henry's response? "Oh, I thought it was an army thing." Also when he's nervous – in hot water with a higher ranking officer, for example – he'll sometimes pop off with stupid jokes that earn laughs from no one but himself.
A father of three and happily married, Henry has a great life back home in Bloomington, Illinois. However, that doesn't stop him from fraternizing with nurses, and once he even had plans to leave his wife, Lorraine, because he thought he was in love with a 21-year-old. He's also had more than one extramarital affair before his time in the war. He does love Lorraine though and often speaks fondly of her — then again, he seems to speak fondly of her good looks more often than her personality. Furthermore, when she writes him and tells him that it's okay if he cheats on her, he instantly becomes worried that this means that she's cheating on him which he is totally not okay with so you can probably gather what kind of hypocritical stance he has on relationships. So, first-class husband he is not, but Henry is at least a good and loving father – he even keeps drawings his children have mailed him on display in his office.
His role as a father carries over into his work at the 4077th. Radar O'Reilly, whom u may already know, quickly becomes like a son to him. Henry watches out for Radar and gives him advice on a regular basis, while Radar in turn helps Henry keep things running around the unit, making sure that papers get signed and calls get made and so forth since Henry often isn't even aware that such things are due to be done.
Radar isn't the only member of the 4077th he's given advice to, either. Most people don't make a habit of going to him when they need advice but he's perfectly willing to give it when he sees that it's needed. Perhaps the most memorable instance is in the episode "Sometimes You Hear the Bullet." In this episode, a friend of Hawkeye's unexpectedly shows up at the MASH unit and explains that he's there to write a book about life on the front lines of war. He leaves to begin his research but later returns to the 4077th — this time as a wounded man. Unfortunately he's unable to be saved and his death affects Hawkeye deeply. Henry approaches Hawkeye to comfort him in the best way he can, in the end telling him, "Look, all I know is what they taught me at command school. There are certain rules about a war. And rule number one is young men die. And rule number two is doctors can't change rule number one." It might not sound like much but it shows that even though Henry might not be a master wordsmith or a great leader, he's a compassionate man and he'll try to help you out if he notices you're going through it.
Overall, a quote by our dear beloved Hawkeye probably best describes Henry. In a letter to his father, he writes that Henry is "a good doctor and a pretty good Joe. However, as a commanding officer, it's a bit like being on a sinking liner, running to the bridge, and finding out the captain is Daffy Duck." After his death, he's recalled fondly by other characters in later seasons on more than one occasion.
Initial Game Plan: Settle in with mild-to-moderate confusion but a generally good attitude.
RP Interests: Literally open to anything. Like even if there's someone out there who's like "I want my guy to freakin HATE Henry Blake" then I'm ok with that. I'm just here for fun. And the horrors.
Preferred Job: Joining the horde of physicians by day, eventually running a golf course by night

Basil | Omori
Player
Player Name: Fey
Other Characters (if any): N/A
Character
Character Name: Basil
Character Age: 17
Canon: OMORI
Canon Point: Post the True Ending. He kind of learnt from Sunny he shared the truth and that's where everything kind of went black, not a surprise considering he was hospitalized.
CRAU (if any): N/A
• ────────── •
History: Wiki here. I do suggest checking this page for trigger warnings, though, since Basil comes with a L O T of them.
Personality: OMORI SPOILERS HEAVY
Basil is, generally speaking, a very sweet boy. He loves plants, he loves flowers, he loves taking pictures and hes a genuine caretaker in many ways- but he's also very, very broken inside. If possible I'd rather split the personality in two sections: what people see and the turmoil inside him that does bring Basil to a very unfortunate fate in most endings.
What we see of Basil comes from three specific, tragic days of his life and what's basically... well, memories of him from Sunny and his interpretation of Basil in his own mind (Headspace). Basil is caring by nature, a bit shy and genuinely humble, often praising others and pushing himself down
He's caring, he's humble, and he has a strong passion for plants and flowers, taking care of them with love. He knows plenty about the language of flowers, the properties of plants and he's the kind of person who'd rather enjoy himself a good book (He canonically loves reading) with some herbal tea over a party, even if he loved spending time with his small group of friends.
He is mostly quiet, staying often in the background, and he is really good at hiding his own problems and worries unless he really trusts someone. Then... he may end up oversharing. Which may be an issue, because that's also when he starts growing unhealthy levels of attachment but we'll tackle that later.
Basil is overall a strong person, even if we see him in his worst days so we may get the opposite impression on first impact, and he is a protector ready to help those he loves no matter if he gets hurt in the process... but, sadly, there's a lot 'wrong' with him.
I wrote a bit about it in the permissions page so I'd like that to be a trigger warning on the matter, is possible. Basil has massive abandonment issues, hallucinations, depression and one his mind sets on a delusion, it's actually a bit difficult for him to step away from it. He'll put other people on pedestals while putting himself down, and sometimes this 'others are perfect, unlike me' can snowball into very dangerous territories. The most blatant example we have in game is his relationship with Sunny which is... complicated at best.
Basil straight up ends up setting up a fake suicide to 'protect' Sunny, he ends up convincing himself that it cannot possibly be Sunny's fault if Mari died and ends up covering for it any lying for four years, because Sunny is his 'best friend' and he 'would never'. The obsession with sunny, which is something I'd love to work around (to heal from it) rp wise, can be tied with a few things in their childhood:
1) sunny was 'safe' and listened, something he probably didn't have/couldn't have because he couldn't worry grandma and his parents were pretty much gone regardless. (Even when Grandma gets sick and is bedridden/close to death, they merely hire someone, Polly, to watch over her and their son instead of, you know, visiting.)
2) He may have some kind of heavy delusions and the fear of losing his friends got him to 'protect' sunny, with his isolation feeding into delusions over delusions where both he and sunny are victims of a monster no one knows about so they SHOULD stick together, right? It's painfully ironic how his fear of losing what he had ended up costing him everything.
3) He seems to have hold into the idea of 'when sunny comes out, we'll fix things' something that didn't happen until three days left and then his world breaks. sunny is leaving. Sunny even abandons him in the bathroom. Everything crashes.
He's surprisingly good at putting up a front, considering no one really seemed to know he had issues beside Sunny when they were kids, and the only reason we see the mask slip and how traumatized Basil is- it's because we meet him as everything is falling apart around him. His grandma is dying, Sunny is leaving for good (and, from his point of view, leaving him with a monster), Aubrey has been actively hostile toward him. he loses his flower pin after falling into a lake (a present from grandma)- everything is horrible and he snaps. But what people forget is that he kept it together for years, fighting a battle in silence, without telling anyone about anything and doing his best to protect Sunny, at least from his point of view. Even the 'ending' is an attempts of Basil to protect. He'll do all in his power to help those he cares about... hiding as much as possible his own pain.
- Headcanon territory - (Aka things that have a very loose relevance in canon but I still enjoy the idea)Anxiety is a big issue for Basil. He has little levels of self-care, but he'll get nervous if others risk to get hurt. He'll take the blame for things he didn't do so others don't get hurt in the process, he'll actively choose to be hated instead of having others he loves be the target of negative feelings, but that doesn't mean this kind of things gloss all over him. He has a high base level of anxiety that rarely leaves him and when it reaches very high levels he may see things that aren't even there or have his own mind clouded with delusions.
He will still smile, he'll still do his best to be 'happy' in front of others, but he may also lock himself away and isolate himself if his stress levels get too high- which may culminate with him 'snapping'. This will not be anything against someone else, but his delusions and visions may make him do stupid things when that happens- like during the final battle where he 'attacks' Sunny with shears, trying to 'save him' from Something (the monster he believed pushed Mari down the staircase, the one he blamed for everything). He wanted to help, he ended up hospitalizing Sunny and making him lose an eye.
Overall things... are complicated. But on a surface level he'll mostly appear calm, composed and possibly cheerful as long as he manages.
- He is mostly vegetarian: We know his favorite food is Tofu and it's somehow fitting for him to approach a mostly vegetarian lifestyle, especially if he's ever forced to provide his own proteins. With his knowledge of plants, he'll easily be able to follow a relatively healthy and complete diet with a moderate amount of animal proteins in it.
- He loves spiders and bugs: We only really see it in Sunny's headspace, but he has a whole little speech about how spiders are friends, not foes (before being devoured alive by them. Thanks, Sunny.), and he seemed happy during their bug catching exploration if we read the picture description about it- I like to imagine that, being a gardener/florist, Basil knows a whole lot about the whole natural cycle and appreciates greatly the 'little soldiers' that protect his flowers from actual pests.
- After waking up in the hospital, not only he got the secret UwU moment with Sunny (which has a lot to unpack: Sunny canonically mentions not liking to smile but he does, there and Basil smiles back... even if he just literally hacked away Sunny's eye. The relief of the other still being there seems to bring a whole new level of 'messed up' to their friendship) but he also got to figure out the truth from him. I'd love to pick him taking the cut picture from his reaction to the truth as 'canon' (Here), aka: Basil knows he messed up, how badly, that there (probably) was no monster hiding in the shadows and pushing Mari and it's basically a new starting point for him, after the horror of what he did initially sunk in.
Initial Game Plan: Well, he will think he deserved to die. Unlike others, he may not settle to get his life back or whatever, but to help others during their path. He will need time to adjust, though, and at least some minimal level of social net before he starts being 'useful' (at least in his own mind)RP Interests: Friendships. God, Basil needs friends so badly, even if he'll fully believe he doesn't deserve them AT ALL. He may keep things superficial in the beginning, too, not really sharing much about himself and mostly talking about plants and other things, but he needs... not to feel lonely. He dealt with that for four years, it'd be healing for him to have people around to care about and who care about him.
Mentors: he's a teen. He has an embarrassing amount of knowledge when it comes to gardening but there's a lot that he still needs to learn about life, so that would be so welcome.
For now I'm not searching, for the first month, negative CR because he comes from a very difficult time of his life, but I'll be more than open about them once he's a tiny bit more stable.
Preferred Job: From the proper list? Physician, farmer or apprentice (he's still only 17).
Florist, Herbalist, farmer, anything related to healing with plants would be FANTASTIC. I'd love for him to mentor under someone in the medical field, especially, and maybe open a little corner for himself where to sell herbal teas- but that's in the VERY long run when he saved enough brass to do anything with it!
NSFW-friendly?: No. Even if he was to 'grow up' into an adult (he's currently 17), i'm not even currently looking for shipping with him at the moment (too much healing to be had) so it's a big no.

Canon Point: Part 3: Lord Here I Come (but see below)
CRAU (if any): Come Sail Away (the Village; Vickie was part of the same voyage and horror as Mulcahy)
• ────────── •
History: A pastor's daughter who became a professional spree killer, Vickie has been through political ups and downs in her society that left her adrift. Before the horror that was Serena Eterna she had been remanded to a position similar to a militia captain, a job she did while caring for the troubled Wonderlanders - teens who had attempted to sell themselves to faeries. Her voyage aboard Serena Eterna was bloody, brutal, and then degrading as she was remanded to the Village, there to develop new and insidious forms of trauma about her identity, her privacy, and her self-worth.
Personality: Caustic, defensive, crass, and performatively bold. Vickie threatens people for the same reason cats hiss, but she's tired, so tired, all of the time. She doesn't wanna fight. Killing doesn't even give the same thrill it used to any more. Somewhere under the layers of scars and defensive irony there's a funny and warm lass that Vickie herself thinks is dead, but isn't, not really.
Initial Game Plan: Settle in, work on arranging things with the island's rats so she can build Rat Park, try to heal, get laid, Definitely Don't Develop Feelings (already failed)
RP Interests: I'ma be so real I'm here to build CR and avoid plot like the plague, just in the interests of keeping my own sanity IRL in check. She's already got some connections from the Visitor's Center or through Mulcahy, and otherwise I wanna follow down where stuff leads.

History: here, though I just noticed it doesn't include the second game so that can be found here
Personality:
I'm going to try to keep this concise because the Ghost of Personality Sections Past is trying to make me write a thesis but I'm fighting it.
When we meet Henry in the first game, we know that he is training under his father to become a blacksmith but he longs to learn how to use a sword and leave off on a life of adventure. The implication is that he kinda spends a lot of time staying out late with his rowdy friends, drinking at the tavern, and sleeping in.
He gets the worst wake up call in history when his village, Skalitz, is attacked and burned to the ground. Henry escapes but almost everyone he knows and loves is killed in the attack, including his parents.
The attack on Skalitz is a defining point in who he is today. It's no surprise that he struggles with PTSD, which we see in the form of terrible nightmares that disrupt his sleep. In the second game, he suffers a great fall (that should've killed him but then there wouldn't be a game) that leaves him so out of it that he starts hallucinating the Skalitz raid happening all over again, all around him. He also carries a lot of survivor's guilt, as he feels like a coward for running away while everyone else was being slaughtered. This manifests in his refusal to ever run from a fight again.
This kind of foolhardy determination and lack of self-preservation can be detrimental, as I'm sure you can guess. It's the kind of thing where, say, a group of bandits shows up and kills a lot of people. Henry notices one of the bandits is someone involved in the attack on Skalitz. For Henry, that's like you've instantly slapped blinders on him and all he can see is That Guy. Those around him are discussing how to stop these bandits, but Henry’s concern is “ok but I saw that guy with them and i need to find that guy and kill him” while everyone else is like "ok but we have bigger concerns and also you can't even be sure that was him, so chill out." But it also means that he's willing to speak up on behalf of the innocent, even when it means talking back to someone he shouldn't be talking back to. He gets in a whole-ass duel with his robber baron commanding officer, Dry Devil, during a covert mission because Dry Devil’s plan involves torching a village as a distraction, which Henry refuses to take part in.
This isn't to say he's incapable of being cruel. He's an RPG protagonist, after all. I personally tried to keep him on the straight-and-narrow and primarily chose kindhearted or friendly dialogue options, unless the mean options looked funny. But, for example, if he's going to a duel with someone much stronger and better at swordsmanship than he is, he isn’t above saying really mean things about that person's dead lover (killed by Henry lol) in hopes that the other guy will find it too hard to fight well through all the tears.
In general he can be a persuasive smooth talker or a decent intimidator – until he fails a check, that is. When he fails, he fails hard. Think “yeah, I'm a college student. Where do I go? Well…. uh…. college, of course.” level bad. (yes that is an actual failed check I got in the game and yes it was humiliating)
He's quite smart, able to learn and even master new skills pretty easily. He learned to read as an adult and now regularly reads and studies books, for example, even if some aspects (such as his own writing and spelling) still challenge him. So yeah, quite smart, you just never know when he's gonna hit someone with the ol “I've figured it out, the bandits are coming out of holes in the ground like mole people” stuff.
As you can probably guess, he comes from a society that is heavily religious, so he often brings up “being a good Christian” when trying to talk people into helping him or someone else. He prays, frequently makes the sign of the cross, etc but isn’t strictly devout as he's perfectly happy to swear, drink heavily and sleep around. He also once talked about a place called Crimbo, which is like Hell but with different colors. (hello failed check) So not always the most learned Christian, but doing his best.
And finally, because I’m genuinely trying so hard to keep this short, a hugely important revelation that Henry experiences in the first game is that the man he believed to be his father isn't really his father. Henry is actually the bastard son of a nobleman, Radzig Kobyla. Radzig treats him well and calls him son and Henry becomes comfortable with calling Radzig "father" like weirdly fast lol?? but Henry isn't like. Benefiting from this at all. To other peasants he's now a lordling and to the nobles he's still a peasant. He's living with one foot in each world and no one around who relates to his unique position in a society obsessed with social hierarchy.
Initial Game Plan: Settle in, make some friends, ponder the existence of Mortanne and what PH means irt his faith, miss home, deconstruct magical hot dog stands, the usual.
RP Interests: Positive CR, negative CR, comedic deaths, also the usual
Preferred Job: He's decent at smithing and considers himself a blacksmith, even if he's been spending more time adventuring. Maybe full time blacksmith, part time protector of the people. Who knows!

• ────────── •
History: Stefan Richter grew up on an Earth that seemed perfectly normal. Everything had a rational explanation. Every suggestion of magic or the mystic was superstition and con artistry, and the strange, glowing cure-all amulet owned by his best friend was probably just radioactive.
Growing up as a second-generation immigrant in the US East Coast metropolis of Shroud City, Stefan and Marcus Cole were inseparable, first organizing a child street gang, then a dockworker's union, then going off to the Great War together. When Marcus was poisoned by mustard gas, Stefan stayed by his side as comrade and caretaker. After the war, they and their friends worked as mercenaries, building up funds for Marcus's failed treatments.
Eventually, they formulated a long-shot plan: seek the source of the amulet Marcus kept with him, an adventure that would see them simultaneously stealing from England's high society and simultaneously infiltrating Scotland Yard for three long years. As Marcus got sicker and more abrasive, Stefan had to dedicate more of his life to caring for him, an increasingly thankless task. Tensions flared. Whether they reached their goal or not, whether Marcus survived or not, Stefan was certain they would go their separate ways.
In a better world, they might have. But when they found undeniable proof of the mythic past of their world, found a way to take that power for themselves... Marcus wasn't going to share it with anyone. Beneath an ancient Greek temple, at the cusp of a new era, Marcus murdered Stefan. And because of this act, humanity was doomed.
Personality: Stefan is underestimated by the world around him, by his comrades, and by his best friend. Outsiders see him as the big, mean, dumb muscle, and his comrades gravitated toward following Marcus over him. Marcus, meanwhile, thinks Stefan is too impatient, too impulsive, and too ambitious. And at points that's true--Stefan can run his mouth when he's excited. He prefers taking a straight line through problems whenever possible. And he didn't intend to stay in Marcus's shadow forever.
At the same time, Stefan is a remarkably capable man. His direct approach is made possible by an impressive degree of lateral thinking and curiosity about the world. Despite his reputation for impatience, he spent three years undercover as someone completely and painfully unlike himself, and nobody suspected a thing. And a large portion of his ambition comes from something Marcus lacks: Stefan cares.
Stefan is a man who abhors doing nothing. He abhors a world that does nothing. Always fidgeting, reading whenever he can, Stefan is a strange and caustic blend of cynicism and utopian dreams. The world needs remaking, that much is clear. He believes in the promise of the technocracy movement, where social and infrastructural engineering would produce a more content, well-managed world without unnecessary toil and strife. This is driven in part by his unshakable belief that the world is inherently rational. He rejects all supernatural explanations for events. Everything that exists has a scientific explanation, and that means us lowly mortals can make it better.
His convictions and stalwart nature are plain when you look at the trajectory of his life. He spent twelve years of his life caring for Marcus. Though never explicitly stated, there's strong hints that Stefan silently harbored feelings for Marcus, but was unable to voice them before their relationship began falling apart. Stefan was perfectly comfortable with casual relationships, but communicating anything about more charged feelings that he can't explain--love, despair, fear--he can't do it.
Stefan's flaws sometimes leave him as a difficult man to deal with. He hates making mistakes, and when he does, his anger at himself can turn outward. While he wants a better world for everyone, his place within the present is often defined by violence, which he doesn't inherently have a problem with. He likes fighting. He likes being strong.
But he also likes being relied on, and using his strengths for the people he cares about, for as long as they need him. He just wishes this damn world would pay him back for it sometime.
Initial Game Plan: Stefan's finally able to act fully on his own initiative, and he has some basic goals: get reliable information on what's going on, get gear and personal contacts together for adventuring, and get poking around in the weirdest parts of Marrow Isle. He's already started on the TDM, with the goals of learning, profit, and uncovering more about the mechanics of the barrier around the island.
RP Interests: Stefan is a character who's largely defined in canon by his relationship to Marcus, and I want to explore where he can go outside of that. This can include a wide range of RP, including general CR, combat, flirting/romance, emotional development, getting pokémon for a guy form 1930...
Preferred Job: Artisan, at least to start. Stefan will be using his enhanced strength, senses, and fairly period-appropriate tech know-how for skilled tradeswork, particularly metalworking. He may eventually start his own business, or see how profitable adventuring is around this place.

Player
Player Name: Kai

Character Name: Kabru
Character Age: 22
Canon: Dungeon Meshi
Canon Point: Post-canon
• ────────── •
History: wiki link here! the uhhh synopsis part is v blank unfortunately but i'm not gonna hash through all of canon here
Kabru Suffers More Than Christ, then eventually gets to be in the political drama he was built for post-canon.
Personality: On the surface, Kabru comes off as an intelligent and friendly young man who is very interested in getting to know other people, and this is all very true. Still waters, though. Kabru is incredibly observant and analytical, extremely well-versed in body language, and, as stated by one of his party members, "will do anything to make someone like him". This includes things he really doesn't want to do, even things that we would consider to be an emotional trigger. He needs everyone, all day long, to like him, so much. This is partially due to his very genuine and intense interest in other people, but it is also a means of furthering his goals-- it's very useful to be likeable. He loves making sense of complicated webs of relationships and drama. All of this makes him come off as a very manipulative figure-- and Kabru can be quite manipulative! But at the heart of him, Kabru is someone who cares very deeply for humanity-- he wants to prevent another tragedy like what happened to Utaya, he wants to save as many people as he can, and improve the political standing of short-lived races. When he manipulates people, it's to those ends. For as much as he fakes things, his caring for people is as genuine as it gets. When taking on a more extensive care-taking role with Mithrun, despite the antagonism of their situation, he's very respectful of the Canary captain's boundaries (even the ones he doesn't realize he should have) and autonomy.
For as much as he cares for others, Kabru is incredibly bad at taking care of himself in... pretty much every sense. Being around monsters, or even talking about them, is upsetting to him, but he throws himself into dungeons anyway. He eats monster food to try and bond with Laios despite the topic triggering him to the point of PTSD flashbacks and violent intrusive thoughts. He's a terrible cook, mostly relying on eating at taverns outside of the dungeon and prepared travel portions within it. He doesn't even clean his own room-- the tavern keeper that lets him room there for free does it for him. He's constantly sacrificing his own well-being for his goals, in many small ways.
Kabru also has a very strong sense of justice-- although he's willing to put it aside for a time if someone can be of use to him, such as with the man running the underworld of the Island, he is also willing to permanently put an end to people he sees as dangerous to his goals. Where he fails in fighting monsters, Kabru is brutally efficient in fighting other people. He gets obsessive about things, and sometimes people. Sometimes you wanna be a guy's friend so so so bad that you follow him everywhere and look into his past and eat monsters even though it's retraumatizing to you and listen to him talk about monsters even though it's retraumatizing to you. Kabru's also fucking weird. He's a weird guy. It's just less on the surface, but if you're around him long enough eventually he's gonna say some weird shit in front of you and you're gonna realize he's fucking weird.
Initial Game Plan: Make fwends C: Learn the Local Gossip. Also more confronting of his Monster Trauma. He's got it too easy post-canon, I need him to suffer some more!
RP Interests: Friends, maybe perhaps.... a lover? A new blorbo for him to rotate in his brain now that he's got Laios figured out?

History: Wiki Link. Choices wise, she's coming from a route where her major choices were:
- She told Gabe about her powers.
- She did not tell Eleanor that Gabe had died when she forgot, later causing Riley not to leave for college.
- She calmed down Mac, meaning he stayed in town.
- She did not take Charlotte's anger, meaning she didn't snap at her friends later and later in the game Charlotte will stand up for her, and Ryan will believe her.
- She took Pike's fear instead of signing her own affidavit.
Other choices are from beyond her canon-point, but she won't get total support at the meeting and she will choose 'forgive' when confronting Jed. I'm playing it loose whether she locked in her romance route with Steph for now.
Personality: The key word to describe Alex is 'empathetic'. It's more than just her abilities, it's the way she processes the emotions she absorbs as a result of them, and how she learns to use her abilities to help people. She truly understands people—something that can be a curse as much as a blessing, but one that she's come to appreciate more with time.
This doesn't stop her from being rather shy and awkward when she's in a new place. If anything, her abilities have made her social life infinitely more complicated over the years, leading to her accidentally saying something she shouldn't know, or making people who feel strongly hard to be around, or just from the pressure of keeping the secret. But beneath the initial awkward surface she's a dorky, goofy, snarky girl with a confidence that grows with time.
It also doesn't stop her from being deeply emotionally repressed in her own special way. Being aware of other people's emotions all the time, to the point that they've often overtaken her own, gives her a convenient excuse to not really unpack her own trauma and emotions in any meaningful way. She's not unaware of how she feels, most of the time, and might even be able to articulate it quite well in the quiet of her own head, but that doesn't mean she deals with it!
She's also creative, stubborn, responsible, and a quick thinker. She's pulled herself through remarkable hardship on the power of her own resilience and through her music.
Initial Game Plan: Alex is going to be a little overwhelmed but also just tough it out, this isn't her first time having to rapidly adjust to being new to a small town with some weird shit going on.
RP Interests: I very much want to have Alex keep trying to help people with her powers, once she's settled and getting to know the town/people. Her Nova state is a great mine for unpacking other characters' emotional states, though it requires a bit of work between players. And of course I want her to make some proper friends, to learn to deal with her own emotions, so on, and for her to meet more people with abilities to realise she's not just an aberration. Also theoretically open to shipping, I'm keeping her in-canon romance vague for now.
Preferred Job: Unsure! If she builds up her nerve, maybe she'll go for entertainer, but she might look for a non-performer job at the Empty Pockets or something first.
NSFW-friendly?: Yes, in theory, but it'd take some build-up.

History: undertale wiki page
Personality:
sexy pansexual showboat robot
Seriously though, Mettaton is a complicated little soul. As a ghost, he was timid, uncertain, but full of big dreams even if he thought they were impossible. He'd always been interested in humans and the Surface, catching little glimpses of what humanity was like that slipped down through into the Waterfall. As time went on, there was one thing he was certain he wanted in his life: He desperately wanted to be human. The notion felt right to him. Like that's what he was meant to be. Not just any body would work though — not like some of his other cousins becoming corporeal with Training Dummies. He wanted something humanoid. Upon meeting Alphys, he began to realize that with her amazing technical skills and love for anime, she could create the perfect body for him to become corporeal with and be as human as possible. His wants and dreams began to overtake his thoughts and he eventually left the Snail Farm without telling his cousin Napstablook and best friend Shyren goodbye, trying to move on from the life he once lived. His dreams couldn't wait for everyone.
As Alphys began to work on his new body, Mettaton slowly became increasingly selfish but also far more confident in himself. For the first time in his life, things were going his way, and he wanted to be the Super Star he'd always dreamed of. The persona he created as Mettaton — rather than his ghost self — is at first a mask as he started becoming more certain in his new form, eventually turning into what felt more natural for the boxy robot to act like as time went on. Glamrous, confident, flamboyant, charismatic, and absolutely in love with himself - the Number One Star of the Underground. Who wouldn't love him? Why shouldn't he love himself? The Underground needed to be entertained and who better to do it than him?
His ego got the best of him and, while he did treat most people well and respectful enough (particularly his fans and staff once he got the Resort built), his treatment of Alphys became worse, as if he took her for granted. He partnered up with her when the human, Frisk, found themselves in the Underground, but eventually betrays her at the very end, wanting to get Frisk's SOUL for himself so he can break the barrier that seals all Monsters and finally let him experience the Human World, without risking Asgore making his way to the Surface and reigniting the war between Monsters and Humans.
Deep down he does care for his friends and family, and at the defeat of Frisk, he realized how he's mistreated them throughout this whole process. How he should have been honest with them and not shut them out. Mettaton learns from his mistakes and becomes even more beloved by the citizens of the Underground — and he's truly thankful and humble to everyone for the love, acceptance, and loyalty they've shown him.
Initial Game Plan: Mettaton is going to want to immediate distract himself from the crippling realization that he must have died after powering down after his battle with Frisk. Time to check out every establishment and try to become a rising star! He'll likely start with doing performances at the Oak and Iron and eventually worm his way onto the radio if allowed.
RP Interests: Give me all types of CR. Bad, good, ones that make him question things, ones that annoy him, ones that stay up late and gossip and paint their toenails with him
does he have toenails though, etcPreferred Job: Entertainer

History: Born of the blacksmith Martin of Skalitz, by a Jewish woman that couldn't marry him for being a goy. After Martin moved on and started his life elsewhere, Samuel had no connection to the family that Martin established in Skalitz, and grew up under the care of his mother and the local Jewish temple. Over time he became a prime mover in the Kuttenberg Jewish community, gathering information, protecting the people as best he could in spite of the repeated assaults on the Jewish Quarter. He only learns of his step-brother Henry of Skalitz far later, when the man comes to him in search of the burgrave that he's been keeping safe in the King Solomon Tavern, with whom he has a n arrangement, and overall a good relationship.

Personality:
(when your parents' divorce was so bad even the household appliances have trauma about itahem.) As the one and only television set of the Dreemurr home, Tenna is as a matter of course well-accustomed to being the center of attention, and not only does he thrive on that attention, he fair well needs it to function. When it comes to his Dark World, TV WORLD, he is both its ruler and its biggest star, and as far as he's concerned, every other Darkner in his domain, his crew and employees, exist to help him better serve his purpose, which is to entertain the Dreemurr family, HIS family, and keep them smiling through thick and thin. So, it's safe to say he's a bit egotistical. Somewhat less clearly visible is the deep well of insecurity which lies just beneath that big ego of his.
Typically he keeps this egotism (and insecurity!) well-masked with the easy-going and fun-loving affect of a TV show host, and as long as nothing happens to make that mask slip, everything's peachy! When the mask does slip, things can get ugly; his moods swing wildly between abject misery (and guilt-tripping anyone nearby into fluffing him up), incandescent rage, needy desperation, crushing existential dread, and anywhere and everywhere in between. Of course these mood swings are never his own fault, or a result of his own actions — it's the fault of his employees for not sticking to their contracts, or his actors for going off-script, or his Lightners for not even looking his way anymore when he's been so good to them for so many years and don't they know he could put on the best show ever for them if they would just give him a second chance...
Truly, nothing terrifies Tenna like the thought of being left behind, because for an old appliance like him, that means getting thrown out with the trash, a fate tantamount to death. As the Dreemurr family splits apart and he spends less and less time in the Light World being switched on, or even plugged in, he grows ever more desperate to keep up with the times, to do whatever it takes to keep himself at the center of attention and keep everyone smiling — even going so far as to strike a deal with a Darkner from an entirely different Dark World, one who promises to teach him all he needs to know about newer technology, to show him the way to becoming a [BIG SHOT]...
But those plans fall through, his brand new business partner having literally run out on him, and he finds himself left with a broken contract and broken dreams, truly and utterly abandoned — just like his Lightners will surely do to him if he can't shape up and remind them just how much they need him around. All he needs is another chance; all he wants is to please his people. Is that so hard? Why does that have to be so hard? Why does everything have to change? Why can't things just go back to the way they were, when everyone was happy, together? Isn't that what everyone really wants? Is he really such a bad guy for trying to take things back to the way they used to be? Why can't anyone understand that everyone would be happier if they just let him do what he does best?
Initial Game Plan: Going from a world that was, at least in his mind, ostensibly under his control to one where he is utterly at the mercy of forces well outside his control will be...quite the transition, to say the least!! Fortunately there will be some familiar faces to help him adjust, but I fully intend to have him flounder for a bit before he finally finds his footing :)
RP Interests: Honestly, any kind of CR will be good for him; he THINKS he knows everything about Lightners and the Light World one could possibly need to know, but his practical experience in that arena is close to nil! He needs enrichment!!
Preferred Job: Entertainer!
NSFW-friendly?: Sure! (He's not exactly equipped for the business, but he remembers a few things from before Toriel activated his parental content locks.)

History: Undertale wiki for Papyrus! I'm using the true pacifist route, so details from other things are illuminating about him but not immediately relevant.
A note of possible interest: the wiki doesn't say anything about his history before he and Sans moved to Snowdin, because nothing in Undertale clarifies. They might be regular monsters from New Home, the capital of the underground! They might be from secluded part of Hotland, and that's why Papyrus both hates it and doesn't know anything about it. They might be from a retconned version of the underground, with whatever happened to the previous royal scientist. Or, as a couple things in Undertale and Deltarune have been hinting, Sans Undertale might have originally been Sans Deltarune - which leaves this brother's history a mystery.
Papyrus conspicuously doesn't even give enigmatic hints about his past, instead talking about spending a lot of time in his room and his various dreams for the future. So far Papyrus Deltarune is Sir Not Appearing On Screen, so even if he is the same skeleton somehow, we're not likely to hear about it until after Pumpkin Hollow's wrapped up.
...so for now I'm proceeding under the assumption that Papyrus is from the Underground, whatever his brother's situation might be, and that either way he's a skeleton who prefers to focus on the present, possible future, and bits of the recent past. I'd be down to conspiracy theory with DR franchise-mates though!
Personality: For starters, linking my Crossing App since that has some relevant things re: Papyrus and how he'd cope with being dead.
BUT, that
Papyrusskeleton was killed by a friend post-pacifist, and that app's intended for Crossing - a game with a focus on the characters moving on from their lives now that they are dead. From all I've seen, Pumpkin Hollow has a different focus, more about making a new life and helping others, with a significant aspect of horror and mysteries to unravel. So, this Papyrus won't need to accept his death or come to terms with it, per se. Dead? Who's dead! He's not dead, he's just... stepped away from the middle of a near-death experience and tiny betrayal from a flowery friend, to take a weird alternate reality trip to help some people in need, and maybe learn some valuable life lessons before going back underground to save the day! Downplaying the things he's worried about to all the more loudly crow the things he wants to believe are true is a tried and true strategy.Or, to borrow heavily from another of my previous apps:
Papyrus is one of the backbones of Undertale, being the character with the most lines (besides the narrator), the boss of the second region of the underground, and the first character that the human must befriend (or 'date') to bring about the game's happier endings. He's introduced (by his jokester brother Sans) as a 'human-hunting fanatic', quickly shown to be loud, scolding, and prone to joking in turn. A clear personality unfolds as he gives the human monologues of dramatic threats and banter with his brother, in between presenting them with an array of puzzles and traps built along the road...
And this is largely a persona or mask, one he drops after his boss fight - giving up on capturing the human as his avenue to popularity, switching gears to one of fostering friendship. His motivation between these personas, his underlying motivation, is one of wanting to matter. To be memorable, to be important to people, rather than realize his fears of being forgettable or irrelevant.
Starting as the unofficial but effective civic leader of Snowdin, he focuses on what the human's doing in their journey through the underground. And in most of the endings where the human leaves the monsters behind, he seeks other positions of influence closer to whoever's ruling the underground - whether as a gardener to a queen, an empty title of importance to the empress, an agent to an entertaining tyrant, or something of a figurehead leader himself. In the endings where he isn't, it's because he's dead, or because he's prioritizing friendship over his own importance - helping a depressed Undyne keep going through her grief, or helping the exiled queen Toriel to protect other future humans. Or, in the pacifist route, he's focused on helping Flowey with his plan to prevent the final battle of king vs human, giving his flower friend time to steal souls (possibly a surprise to Papyrus, but possibly on purpose, out of the understanding it would help the soulless flower). Even in the happiest post-canon ending he's quick to run ahead of the others, seeking to make the first impression of the humans on monsterkind's behalf, and he volunteers to be ambassador if no one else claims the position.
If Papyrus has a personal history that's driven this motivation for importance, no one in Undertale mentions a word of it. In this game, he is a character of the present and near future, full of quirky comments and no childhood stories, quick to jump from dream to dream when the circumstances change and he sees a new way to gain the approval and standing he craves.
He doesn't restrict himself to the practical or even the plausible, either - his skin care products and exercise routines are only making him more moisturized and muscular in his own mind, and his thoughtlessness in knocking on a front door for training at midnight only paid off because Undyne was impressed by his tenacity in staying there until morning for the answer. He's self-absorbed in ways where he's quick to announce his own greatness, but eager to cheer others on and willing to give special and inconveniencing help - what he thinks is best, or interesting, rather than necessarily helpful. He's the greatest, but that's no reason for anyone else to think they can't be great too, and he'll energetically tell them so if he has to put on jogging gear and follow them around offering encouragements.
Initial Game Plan: Definitely Not Thinking that maybe his flower friend killed them! He's definitely only near death, and will be working this out sooner or later. But, since later might be a long while, he'll be looking for things here to invest all his busy energy and forever seeking relevance into.
RP Interests: I'll admit, I'm a sucker for the 'wtf, this is a walking skeleton, sir did you know you are dead/bones' reactions and for Papyrus to weather them in a variety of amused / patient / impatient ways. More generally, I enjoy chances for juxtaposing shenanigans with serious things! Deflecting from dread and horror with terrible puns and puzzles and bickering over inane things! Overall decent intentions that go awry in the ways that maybe only time travel can fix. I as a player also enjoy poking at the Mysteries of a game, but Papyrus as a rule only pokes so far before he goes silly/evasive so as to not look directly at the horrors, so that's easier if he's tagging along and helping someone else out rather than taking initiative himself.
Preferred Job: In the short term, he will definitely at least TRY fishing and/or farming, if the need for food is still high. Long term artisan is a better fit for existing skills, but reinventing himself with something new is also a possibility.
NSFW-friendly?: Possibly! In theory yes, but I'm more likely to chat about it than thread since it's easier to joke about the bone zone than write it. But we will see.

Character Name: Meta Knight
Character Age: ~500ish years old. He's forgotten the exact number, not to mention he's been to many different planets with many different lengths of years. Middle-aged for his species, feels like a grizzled old war veteran in his soul and that's what counts.
Canon: Kirby: Right Back At Ya! (Notably different backstory than Gameverse MK, but not too different in personality)

• ────────── •
History:
Meta Knight is the last surviving Star Warrior of an intergalactic war against an all-consuming magical capitalist empire. The only useful paragraph of his wiki reads as follows:
"Sir Meta Knight is a major supporting character in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!. He is a veteran Star Warrior who has settled in King Dedede's court, feigning to serve the king in order to protect Dream Land from the monsters which are summoned on the regular through Night Mare Enterprises (NME). After Kirby crash-lands in Dream Land, Meta Knight tasks himself with guiding and training the young pink puffball in the art of fighting monsters, though his methods are often extreme, putting Kirby in harm's way. Meta Knight wields the sacred blade Galaxia, though he rarely uses it directly."
This is the surface level of information Meta Knight might tell someone. Coming to live in Dreamland was a bit of a reset point for him. There are very few alive who know of his past amongst the ranks of the Galaxy Soldier Army, and even fewer who know of his true heritage.
A very long time ago, an evil magician named Nightmare had a talent for creating evil, vicious creatures known to some as “Demon-Beasts”, and others as simply “Monsters”. Nightmare used his talent to begin conquering all of the known galaxy. Rebels against his ever-expanding empire called themselves “Star Warriors”, and banded together to form the Galaxy Soldier Army (GSA). In order to combat this growing rebellion, Nightmare sought to make his finest creation yet: a sapient monster, one that could infiltrate the movement and tear it apart from the inside. To this creature he gave a mask, to hide its fangs, and a cape, to hide its terrible bat-like wings.
Meta Knightmare was ready for deployment. But to Nightmare’s dismay, his perfect creation rebelled against him.
After gifting his creator some nasty scars, and shortening his name to something more presentable, Meta Knight fled to the GSA. With his mask tightly fastened and his cape closely secured, he was able to hide his monstrous heritage and work his way up the ranks. His extensive knowledge of Nightmare’s operations was welcomed as an asset rather than questioned. His skill with the sword quickly earned him respect, and he joined the top echelon of Star Warriors. He was even given the privilege of wielding Galaxia, a powerful sacred sword imbued with the electromagnetic energy of an entire star.
(It is in the GSA that he met fellow Star Warriors Jecra and Garlude. They were the closest people in his life, and the only ones he has ever willingly told about his past. Neither would survive the war and through great misfortune Meta Knight was directly involved in the circumstances surrounding both their deaths. He thinks about them often. Actually getting him to talk about them is like pulling teeth.)
But for all of the GSA’s efforts, for all of Meta Knight’s hard-fought battles, the forces of Nightmare grew stronger. Eventually, the Star Warriors would be wiped out. Those that escaped destruction went into hiding each thinking they were the last- and Meta Knight was one of them. Keeping himself alive solely so that Galaxia did not fall into Nightmare’s hands, he bounced from planet to planet.
On one of these planets, a pair of thugs attempted to rob him. Through some roundabout circumstances involving an attack from a Monster, Meta Knight ended up saving their lives. Inspired by his selfless act, the two thugs begged him to be their mentor, which he accepted. These two became his squires, Sword and Blade, and together they fled to the backwater planet Popstar. Specifically to the sleepy Kingdom of Dreamland.
Nightmare, having conquered most of the known galaxy at this point, rebranded his empire as NightMare Enterprises, otherwise known as NME. NME sold Monsters to wannabe despots as a method of gaining influence over the remaining neutral backwater worlds that would be too much effort to conquer. To Meta Knight’s great misfortune, the king of Dreamland was an easy customer.
All hope seemed lost until Meta Knight learned that a new Star Warrior would be born with the power to destroy Nightmare. He waited in Dreamland for a good ten years until this Star Warrior arrived- this immensely powerful being was Kirby, as we all know. Since that fateful day Meta Knight has been trying to train the little tyke to his full potential before Nightmare finds out and sends his galactic might to crush Dreamland into nothing more than a happy memory. The fate of the galaxy is at stake.
. . . Meta Knight is not happy to have apparently perished in the middle of that.
Personality:
Meta Knight is an intensely secretive and introverted person. He tends to abruptly appear and disappear from any location and very rarely is he without a plan for what he should be doing next. He’s a chronic busybody who abhors not having something useful to do. One could call him an overthinker, but the insecurity that typically presents with that character trait has been tempered by wisdom, confidence in the few skills he’s truly mastered, and the image he takes great care to curate.
He is polite. Much as his name implies, he takes great pride in being chivalrous and refined. He’ll fight against outright monsters but is not afraid of being courteous to local villains to get what he wants. While some values are universal, he makes it a point to learn local manners and formalities quickly- and he’s had great practice doing so; being a seasoned galactic traveler, he is accustomed to being the foreigner or the “alien” in most settings. This lends itself to one of the few hobbies he allows himself, that being languages and especially reading. (His shelf back home has books from several different planets, not all of them translated into Galactic common. He enjoys being a bit of a warrior-poet)
He’s observant more than anything. If another character is hanging back like he so often does, he’ll notice, and perhaps even strike up a conversation to ask what they’re looking for. His alertness has always been an innate character trait but has been cranked up immensely due to his background as a veteran. He has an uncanny ability to spot when things are “off”, since his enemies of choice have been Monsters with a wide variety of abilities/magic/powers (and not to mention his creator was a master illusionist, who has spent many years tormenting him even after he managed to escape).
But despite the secrecy, despite the practiced and distant formality, despite the literal mask, despite everything- Meta Knight is kind. His kindness slips out of him even when he tries to harden himself for whatever greater good he’s striving towards. It comes in the form of gifts left anonymously for friends or even strangers in need. It comes in the form of appearing out of the blue to share a few sage words of wisdom, before disappearing again so you have room to meditate on the thought. He won’t stop someone from heading into a dangerous area- he wants to see them prove their mettle -but he’ll follow them to make sure they’re okay, and even intercede if necessary.
Finally, he is immensely proud of his abilities, borderlining on cocky but usually stopping just before it becomes juvenile. He’s powerful and intelligent and he knows it. Meta Knight is capable of being a suck-up when formalities require, and he’ll even take one or two bad comments about his intelligence if it furthers his goals, but god help the poor fool who insults Meta Knight’s skill with the sword. He will actually, literally fight you about it. Even if you are a child.
Other fun bits:
Has a secret sweet tooth that he’d rather die than let anybody know
Absolutely refuses to take off his mask and cape. If either break, he flees.
Will not eat in front of other people outside of an oh-so-brief lift of his mask to pop something small in his mouth or sneaking a straw behind the mask.
Actually extremely proficient with the level of tech from his timeline but would be clueless with anything less advanced.
Oozes paternal energy around anyone younger than 25. Vehemently in denial about this.
Did I mention his eyes change color like an OC from the 2000s? Because they do. Color palette and what each color means will eventually be on the profile.
Initial Game Plan:
Upon the transition here, his sword Galaxia was
gently taken away to facilitate his further developmentstolen from him. Priority number one is to get a sword. Any sword will work to quell his anxiety about not having one, but he eventually wants to invest in a very, very high-quality sword. This is very important to him, tantamount to the very core of his identity. (You could think of it as a metaphor for the uncertainty and anxiety following a near-death experience- he’s going to be more emotionally off-kilter and expressive here than he was in his source material because he’s in a uniquely vulnerable position right now.)Additionally, though, he’s going to follow his usual modus operandi when landing in a new place- figure out how the local culture works and who holds the power. Then he’ll try to make himself useful to those that hold the power to give himself a steady base to work from to achieve his own ends. Namely figuring out how to get home. He isn’t shy about interacting with others who pique his interest regarding his investigations. He also tends to seek out not only those with social power, but physical power- “feeling out the scene”, so to speak. If he wants to spar with you, it means he’s taking a shine to you. Finally, it’s also in his nature to stumble across some young people to mentor.
RP Interests: The muse is willing for even the most negative of CR but the mun is a little less sure. Mun is still new to this, would prefer to ease in with positive CR or maybe a good rivalry. Muse is very serious and sentimental and while it’s going to be fun to juxtapose him against the horror-comedy of the setting, he does hunger for serious emotional beats. Mentorship, friendship (I’m a sucker for hurt/comfort), or even romance. Oh, and he’s very motivated to figure out the mystery of the island.
Preferred Job: Meta Knight would THRIVE as a hunter/monster killer. Basically, call him if you need something captured, something dead, or a supernatural nuisance cleared out. Or if you want some wild game to eat. But that’s when he gets his sword- before then, he’d prefer to work in construction or at a library of some kind.
NSFW-friendly?: Yes, but oh lord this guy will need the slowest burn of your life to get to that point. The mun is willing. The muse is the guy famous for running away when someone gets the tiniest glimpse of his real face.

Grace Holloway | BioShock 2
Player
Player Name: Schnikeys
Personal journal:
Plurk:
Other Characters (if any): N/A
Character
Character Name: Grace Holloway
Character Age: 40
Canon: BioShock 2
Canon Point: Circa the end of the BioShock 2 game, with Subject Delta having spared Grace’s life. For the purposes of a near-death experience, she was hit on the head by falling debris due to shockwaves from Sofia Lamb’s bombing of Persephone.
CRAU (if any): Grace Holloway was a resident on Marrow Isle for a few months previously, becoming acquainted with Pumpkin Hollow’s locals and starting to form friendships with fellow newcomers such as Agent Jean and Gerard Keay. Working as a chanteuse gave her broad familiarity with the town. However, she departed the isle, as she struggled back to consciousness in Rapture for a brief few minutes. She seems to have faded back into unconsciousness and near-death.
• ────────── •
History: Grace moved to the undersea city of Rapture as a young woman to sing and start a family, experiencing a heyday before being politically blacklisted and falling on hard times. She fell in with a cult for about fifteen years before getting a sudden reality check… right before she ended up here. Full history HERE.
Personality: Barring a preexisting grudge, Grace is charming and enjoyable to be around. She likes people, likes talking to people, and really likes when people listen to her. Exceedingly rude, boorish people are not her style, and she’s not generally shy about expressing disapproval of people’s behavior, but her default is to get along with most people.
At heart, she likes solving problems. Even though it’s gone badly for her a few times now, she’ll always be drawn to the idea that things can be better.
Initial Game Plan: Being somewhat at loose ends from her just-in-time disillusionment with Sofia Lamb, she nevertheless has no interest in dying, and would like to get back to her world to hopefully someday apologize to Eleanor Lamb. In the meantime, she sees no reason not to make herself comfortable and secure.
RP Interests: Grace isn’t a fighter, but she’s had years of practice in unflappability and disaster coordination. (And it can be even more fun to throw someone unprepared into a dangerous situation.) Interactions with people more used to the countryside than her city-mouse self might be interesting. She’s also opinionated and very tired of being kept out of the loop, and so might be irritated into digging for mysteries. She’ll want to make herself socially indispensable.
Preferred Job: Entertainer. She is a seasoned lounge singer specializing in a Rapture derivative of classic female blues, though urban blues, rhythm and blues, and swing music are comfortably within her repertoire, and she could probably pick up jazz once introduced.
NSFW-friendly?: In theory yes, would require ample OOC discussion beforehand.

Canon Point: Post-ending
CRAU (if any): N/A
• ────────── •
History: wiki link.
Personality: Val is the corpse of a girl who volunteered to be turned into a weapon because she thought it might make her mother proud of her.
There's a lot of problems packed into that sentence! Let's break it down. In the world of The Silt Verses, gods are real, and they operate like cosmic horror entities that are inexplicably interested in humans but don't understand them. Gods are born from human belief, rule over specific domains, ideas, or things, and you can make sacrifices to them in exchange for boons. But most of all, the gods are hungry. They have to feed.
The gods also back most of the infrastructure in Val's world. Electricity, for example, runs on mass sacrifice to the Saint Electric. And speaking of Saints - those who are particularly devout can sacrifice themselves to gods, and turn into body horror creatures with supernatural power. When that happens, you're no longer regarded as a person, even if you are seen as holy.
Saints are heavily used in war, and that's where Val comes in. When we first meet Val, the Peninsula is at war with the Linger Straits, and they are losing. Badly. So they decide to commit a war crime by recruiting people to be hallowed into Saints of a god of lies. These Saints are extraordinarily powerful, capable of manipulating reality with the lies they tell. Val is one such volunteer, and after sixty-four days of torture, she is the Peninsula's one and only success. She wins the war for them. They call her Valuable.
Val volunteers because she thinks it will make her mother proud of her. But after her hallowing, her mother abandons her. This makes Val bitter, angry, and vengeful. She hates her mother, and enacts torture on random civilians to process this hate. She hates society, too, for failing her. And to some extent, she has a point: what kind of society does this to their people? But Val's point is largely overshadowed by her initial foray into the cycle of abuse. She kills people as viciously and dramatically as possible, mostly just to show her superiors that she can. They think of her as military property, and she just wants to be left alone.
Val vascillates wildly between delusional hubris and rock-bottom self-esteeming. Being hallowed didn't fix the root cause of why she volunteered. To fix those feelings of inadequacy, Val tries to style herself as a god. She asks people to love her because she can create miracles. And then, when that doesn't work, she just asks them to understand her.
Val is also highly shaped by her lack of memory. The hallowing process caused her to lose most of her pre-Sainthood memories, to the point where she considers the person she is now and the person she was before to be different people. This, unfortunately, feeds into her cruelty - Val has only ever known violence, so she enacts it in turn. But it also gives her, underneath all that, a sense of earnestness that's at odd with her status as a liar's Saint.
Val isn't all doom and gloom, though. A god of lies is also a god of storytelling, and Val's flair for the dramatic can be genuinely funny. She's creative, intelligent, and witty.
Val is also capable of self-reflection. While she still hates her mother and the state that tortured her, Val comes to realize that she likes it when people are nice to her, and that she should be nicer to them in return. Unfortunately, Val conceptualizes herself as a horrid abomination, so she tries to relate to people as if a god might relate to its worshipers. She attempts to bestow kinder lies, kinder gifts, but even this does not give Val the absolution she craves.
At the end of her story, Val recognizes that revenge can't help her, and neither will worship. Instead, she has to face her trauma head-on. When Val kills Carson, the person who created her, she does so kindly. She and Carson reflect upon the people they wanted to become, instead of the people they are now. The last lie Val ever speaks is: before she died, she remembered who she was. This is both a moment of triumph for Val and a deep tragedy. Val thinks of herself as a "thing" that merely inhabits the corpse of the person she was before the hallowing, and she recognizes that the memory of who she was before is permanently out of reach.
Initial Game Plan: In canon, Val gets one small moment of healing and then she fucking DIES it's so sad. I want her to continue the growth she was experiencing when she kills Carson with kindness. One grand gesture is easy, but how does she fit into a community? How does she start healing from the horrors, and how does she deal with the guilt that comes over inflicting them? Why are there talking old man monkeys here? So many questions for Val to grapple with as she does the hard work of learning how to put a life together and be human.
RP Interests: I love body horror, creepy houses, Silent Hill shenanigans, comedy (I promise), everything!!
Preferred Job: I have no idea but I do want it to be funny
NSFW-friendly?: Nope

Character
Character Name: Harrowhark Nonagesimus
Character Age: 19
Canon: The Locked Tomb series
Canon Point: Post the events of Harrow the Ninth
CRAU (if any): N/a
• ────────── •
History: Her wiki page can be found here!
Personality: Outwardly, Harrowhark appears as distant and unaffected. She speaks in a prim accent and canonically overcomplicates the language she chooses to use. She's unafraid to speak her mind, call out people's shortcomings, or make threats. She is a deeply traumatized individual, created at the detriment of her House's future, then tasked with saving it from extinction. She is often paranoid, has auditory and visual hallucinations, and is quite transparent about being 'insane', something she views as an infirmity. I see her as someone who is extremely lonely and self-isolated, and believes she's lesser than human, while also living fiercely in spite of this. She's learning to be selfless. She's learning to care for and trust people. It'll be a lengthy and rewarding process.
Initial Game Plan: I'd like Harrowhark to spend quite a bit of time of time as a laggard, both out of distrust and revolt for an environment she isn't used to. Here, she'll make some meaningful CR and either move in somewhere herself, or live with someone she's gotten close with. This will be a long process, and she'll spend a lot of time 'living' (sleeping, mostly) in places like the cemetery, library, and maybe the church/temple. She'll do some investigating on how death works (or doesn't work, rather), which will entail getting her hands nasty. Much fun. Sign up for her dissection list, you won't regret it. Eventually, she will be coaxed into working as a Bizzyboy, where she will fail utterly, but refuse to give up.
RP Interests: Building plenty of negative and positive CR, having her connect with people her age, being taken under the wing of some mentor-like figure(s), have an arc relating to religion/religious worship. Guidance, guidance, guidance, and lots of it.
Preferred Job: Laggard for a time, Bizzyboy later
NSFW-friendly?: Yes? Will need heavy CR building

History: Luo Binghe
Personality: Obsessive, devoted, hardworking, quick-witted, two-faced, misanthropic. Binghe’s formative experiences have told him that abuse is the world’s default for him, and that there are a very few precious people who will give him love, and that he’s at constant risk of losing them. Other people are tools at best and enemies at worst. On the surface, he usually comes across either as a charming young man, a somewhat bratty minion, or as a vengeful little demon.
Initial Game Plan: He is going to be doing his level best to worm his way back into his Shizun’s good graces, and also chase off all the hussies stealing his time.
RP Interests: Bingmei getting to take a few steps on the road toward internalizing that he doesn’t have to DO things to be worthwhile
Preferred Job: Dogsbody for Anzu, cook/baker for Blackwoods
NSFW-friendly?: In theory yes, would require ample OOC discussion beforehand.
In general I prefer writing xeno femslash, and Bingmei’s an essentially human dude, so it’s a little more likely I won’t be feeling inclined to write anything explicit, but I’m by no means categorically opposed!(no subject)
