This is also where you submit special purchase requests. Whenever you want to buy something not listed in the shops, such as a custom item that doesn’t have a specified price, you will need to make a purchase request to have a price issued to you. Special items that must be acquired through the Shady Merchant can be requested here and purchased here. You will also need to inform the bank when you upgrade your home or business, change jobs, or start a new business!

However, for non-upgrade items with predetermined prices such as your grocery budget, you can just add them to your ledger without making a formal request. This also includes items with previously determined prices as found in the buyer's guide.

Shady Merchant Item

A bone like the long bones of the limbs, which has at one end an eye that looks around and blinks, a tuft of fur, and small horns. Summons a friendly fuzzy, bouncy chest-creature that follows whoever's carrying the bone. The creature can hold nine stacks of items, separated from each other, inside its mouth/stomach. They will be slightly slobbered-on but not eaten (not even food) or sufficiently soaked to gain the wetness status effect, and can be retrieved as desired unless Chester gets stuck somewhere.

Chester has a soul and is more of a biological creature than a magical construct, but doesn't appear to need to eat, or have much of anything in the way of internal organs past the mouth/stomach. He's shaped kind of like a box, kind of like a large pumpkin, and kind of like a tree stump, although he has a doglike temperament and level of slobber from his big protruding tongue. He has no eyes unless the eyebone counts, no distinction between head and body, no tail, four legs with hooflike or elephantlike flat-soled feet, and horns on his lid. Even in Don't Starve, if Chester's killed he respawns one day later, so that doesn't need to work any differently here. (He doesn't do anything when attacked except flinch and yelp, including running away. He does run around wildly if haunted by a ghost.) He has 450 HP, which is three times as much as Wilson does. He sleeps at night but suffers no ill effects from being kept awake. Usually the eyebone disintegrates into ashes if taken through an interdimensional portal, although in order to be here at all it must have been protected somehow; it can handle being teleported within the same world.
